Below is a list of Educational Programs that will be offered throughout the calendar year at various locations.

Athletic Training Workshop

Is a high school student you know interested in a future career in sports medicine? Kettering Sports Medicine Center's Athletic Training Workshop is designed to introduce students to the field of sports medicine. Each year many students seek to enter the field with little knowledge or what various professions are available. Staff members from KSMC, along with local athletic trainers, will teach sessions on practical skills for the prevention and management of athletic injuries. This will include lectures and hands-on practice sessions. These programs are held periodically throughout the community. For more information, call (937) 395-3910.



Cancer Awareness Presentations

A registered nurse certified in oncology (cancer care) will discuss a variety of cancer awareness topics. Topics include Skin Cancer & You, Colon Cancer: Are you at Risk?, Is a PSA Blood Test Right for You?, DeMYTHifying Breast Cancer, Come Walk Beside Me, Understanding the Cancer Experience and Cancer in Your Community: What You Can Do to Prevent Cancer. PASP - Coaches Educational Program

The Ohio Department of Education requires individuals who supervise, direct or coach a pupil activity program that involves athletics, routine/regular physical activity, or health and safety considerations as determined by the local board of education are adherent to Administrative Code 33021-27-01, revised June 1995. Such individuals may attend the Pupil Activity Supervisor Permit (PASP) offered by Kettering Sports Medicine Center. These programs are held periodically throughout the community. Adult, Child & Infant CPR, First Aid and AED Training

At least one person in every home should be certified in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation). The first aid certification portion of the class covers heat and cold-related emergencies, injuries to muscles, bones and joints, injury prevention, burns and bleeding. The AED is an Automated External Defibrillator and every minute of early defibrillation of a victim raises the chances of survival by 10%. By passing this class, you will receive a two-year certification in adult, child and infant CPR, First Aid and AED use. Learning and becoming certified in CPR, First Aid and AED use could save a life! These classes are held 3-4 times per year throughout the community. For more information, call (937) 558-3988.

Health Night Out

This free monthly educational program is held at Kettering Medical Center. Each "Health Night Out" covers a current medical topic and is presented by a health care professional. For more information, call (937) 558-3988.

Healthy Heart Education Classes

This three-part class teaches risk reduction measures. The class covers cholesterol and what your numbers really mean, the importance of a healthy diet, and the benefit of exercise when trying to lower your cholesterol. Requires a minimum class size of eight participants and includes a workbook. This class can be taught on-site. For more information, call (937) 395-8092.

Safe Sitter Classes

Learn safe babysitting techniques. This class is perfect for the latchkey child or teen wanting to be a safe sitter. Youth aged 11 to 15 learn basic care, what safe play is, first aid, rescue choking skills, professionalism and tips on finding babysitting jobs. Education Programs - Sports Medicine Topics

From gardening to game-day ready, we have a sports medicine speaker for you. Kettering Sports Medicine Center offers various staff members to speak on subjects related to Sports Medicine. Staff members address issues concerning the care and prevention of athletic injuries, sports enhancements, sports nutrition, as well as the various components that make up the field of sports medicine. These presentations are designed to promote mental and physical health.
